Amsterdam, July 1999

Those holidays in Amsterdam were indeed a treat. From my experience, this city is truly a barechester's and barefooter's paradise. The only places that would require you to put a shirt on are the main museums (Rijkmuseum, Van Gogh Museum). And even they have nothing against bare feet. Everywhere else I was shirtless 100% of the time, except on my first afternoon in Amsterdam because the weather was too cold (even for me ;-), and one evening when I went to dinner in a classy restaurant. I was also barefoot a lot, but not all the time as the weather was actually *too hot* (30-35°C all the time). Amsterdam's sidewalks are made mostly of concrete or brick tiles that keep the heat tremendously, making it uncomfortable to walk on them with bare feet. So I had shoes on during the day mostly, but easily took them off in the evening when it got cooler.

From Amsterdam, surely the kind of sign we would all want to see become useless or irrelevant, wouldn't we ?  This way to
Shirtless Amsterdamers

Now just click on the links above to see me shirtless in various places, and also shirtless and barefoot in some others. Or to see some nice-looking Amsterdamers just enjoying themselves with no shirt on, out in the street or inside a variety of public places. Have fun !
